No fuss to take the bus

Sussex Students' Union is the first department on the University's Falmer campus to install a RTPI display. Other departments are expected to follow suit in the New Year once an evaluation of the effectiveness of the display has been done.

Situated in the reception at Falmer House, the floor-standing screen toggles between local bus and train information and includes a "ticker tape" RSS feed providing student news.

A map showing the location of bus stops accompanies the bus information. This toggles with an 'advert' that can be changed by reception staff to display up-to-the-minute messages or Students' Union offers. This is the first Digital Journey screen to include this functionality, which we expect to be popular as it means a display can be tailored to target a specific audience (in this case, students).
